Abstract
The present article, he has as principal purpose propose a reflection on the human accessions in the world and the sustainable development. Taking the Conference of Estocolmo (1972) of United Nations as a point of item, there is realized a review of the principal events and of the institutional documentation that they have favored the sensitization towards all the questions related to the environment, especially in urban areas. There lends special attention to the Report Brundtland in which there appears the concept of “sustainable development”, to the I Cumbre of the Earth celebrated in Rio de Janeiro (1992) in which the principal international agreements are reached and, In the european frame, to the I European Conference of Sustainable Cities celebrated in Aalborg (1996) in which the Letter of Aalborg is approved. As a result progressively settles what is now called the "philosophy of sustainability" both in science and in institutional and citizens themselves.The articles published in this journal are subject to the following terms and conditions:
