Abstract

Striking alliances between the different stakeholders involved in food safety is one of the strategic goals of the Andalusian Public Health System. Among these alliances is that of economic operators with the administration. One of the measures that was taken to achieve this goal was designing and publishing surveys on the degree of satisfaction of economic operators with the actions of the Andalusian Food Safety System in order to foster an ongoing dialog with, a better understanding of and better relations with them. This study was designed along descriptive and cross-sectional lines. The study was conducted in the Aljarafe-Sevilla Norte Primary Care Health District, which encompasses populations in the provinces of Seville and Huelva. The inspection activity is carried out by 58 official control agents, who conduct inspections at 9,689 food companies in the Autonomous Community of Andalusia. Telephone surveys were given to a random, stratified, proportional sample of 675 economic operators that had been subjected to health inspections during the month of July 2019 to assess the performance of said health agents. The result of the Torrecilla et al.- validated questionnaire was used. The mean satisfaction resulting from the responses about the inspectors’ actions was 4.37 (S.D.: 0.61; 95 % C.I.: 4.32-4.42) on a scale of 1 to 5. There were no significant differences with respect to the sex, age or education of the economic operators. Question 9 revealed significant differences in connection with the inspectors’ level of education and training, pharmacists having a favorable mean. The degree of satisfaction was high, although there are organizational aspects that can be improved.
