Resumo

A abordagem da saúde planetária atualiza nossa visão sobre a relação entre meio ambiente e saúde no contexto da crise ambiental e climática global. Baseia-se na análise dos limites planetários e das consequências de sua transgressão. Neste artigo, analisamos a situação dessas fronteiras e suas consequências na região da América Latina e Caribe. A partir de uma crítica, apresentamos uma reconceituação da saúde planetária considerando aspectos de justiça ambiental e desigualdades Norte/Sul. A situação das fronteiras planetárias em diferentes países da região é mostrada. Finalmente, propõe-se uma abordagem baseada em cenários sindêmicos locais, bem como programas e políticas bem-sucedidas para responder aos grandes desafios da crise ambiental e climática na região.
